Raffle ticket tour stop planned for Thursday at Depew (and hopefully Lancaster too)

Thursday will mark the second and possibly final stop of my informal (and obviously brief!) raffle ticket tour stop as I sell chances that will benefit the Tom Borrelli Memorial Scholarship Fund (check this link for the details and great prizes).

I have a late afternoon meeting, but I'm hoping to at least get to the Depew end of the Depew-Lancaster Boys & Girls Club summer league playoffs in boys basketball.

At the Depew (60 Preston St.) location, Bishop Timon-St. Jude is playing Depew at 6 p.m., followed by Maryvale against Lancaster at 7.

At the Lancaster (5440 Broadway St.) location, Pioneer meets West Seneca West at 6 p.m. followed by Clarence and JFK at 7.

Hopefully I'll be at Depew for the end of the first game and the beginning of the second with enough time to zip down the street for the second game at Lancaster -- or maybe I'll zip back and forth :-). I get to check out some hoops and raise money for a great cause.

It was great to get to Sweet Home last week on my first stop of the tour, where several coaches and fans were gracious enough to buy the $5 raffle tickets.

The raffle drawing is Sunday, July 19. If you'd like to buy tickets, email me at kmcshea@buffnews.com. I'll set aside tickets for you and give you the information on where to send a check. Thanks.

NB

I AGREE I THINK HE WOULD BE A GREAT FIT AT A PLACE LIKE lEMOYNE. AS FAR AS D1 I WASNT TALKING DUKE , BUT THERE ARE PLENTY OF SMALLER D1 OR 1AA HE MIGHT BE ABLE TO PLAY. I KNOW HES BEING RECRUITED FOR FOOTBALL AS A TE, BUT HIS BASKETBALL TALENT IS STILL UNTAPPED YET. HES A GREAT KID TO, WITH A WILLINGNESS TO LEARN. I HOPE HE GOES AND JUST PLAYS SOMEWHERE.

aaujunkie, I agree with you as far as he has improved! Really hard worker too! I am just saying D1 is very difficult, and maybe he would play more at a D2 school. But whatever is decided good luck to him!

Barczykowski played in Syracuse and the scout for Lemoyne compared him to Wolfley from Attica who went to Iona and now back to ub. Im just going by what i heard and saw. His game has improved a ton from last year. Not to many 6'8" kids can knock down the jumper like him. The problem is in Alden he will play with his back to the basket , when his face up game is much better. Anyhow good luck to him ... i also heard that the Nowak kid from OP is there and Bellimo from Lake Shore. Good luck to all who are making a name for themselves.

I have seen Barczykowski, good player, but not a D1 player. Hopefully he will play D2 or D3. Would be great to see a local kid play somewhere!

NB

Christian Barczykowski from Alden and Fletcher Larson from Jamestown are playing in aau nationals in Orlando, Fla. Thay are both playing with a allstar team from Rochester. Nice to see wny talent playing around the country. Look for both to have outstanding senior seasons. Pretty nice front line with Larson 6'9" and Barczykowski 6'8". Look for Barcz. to attend a small div. 1 school or nice d2 school like Lemoyne.
