Hoppy signs with Orioles
Check out Mary Jo Monnin's story detailing how recent Orchard Park graduate Kyle Hoppy will sign with the Baltimore Orioles.
Can't blame Hoppy for going the professional baseball route rather than to Bucknell, where he was to play football and baseball. He has a shot at the major leagues, something very few people can say. If it doesn't work out, he has money to put toward college someday.
Making the pros in baseball is super-tough. You need to be talented and a work-your-butt-off hard worker. From what I've learned about Hoppy this past season, he's both. It will be fun tracking his progress.
Hoppy is probably getting out his mid-Atlantic map to the majors: Bluefield (W.Va) Orioles (rookie league), Aberdeen (Md.) Ironbirds (Class A New York-Penn League), Delmarva (Salisbury, Md.) Shorebirds (Class A), Frederick (Md.) Keys (high Class A), Bowie (Md.) Baysox (AA), Norfolk (Va.) Tides (AAA).
