Probably the most unique weekend of high school football is this one in Week Three, first and foremost because it gets started with some Thursday kickoffs tonight.
The early kickoff features a battle of 2-0 teams as No. 8 large school Hamburg visits Amherst while No. 5 large school Williamsville South hosts winless Williamsville North. Both games have 7 p.m. kickoffs. A battle of winless teams has Williamsville East at Kenmore East at 4:30 p.m.
There are also some intriguing games involving Southern Tier members of Section VI heading north to meet top teams from the Monsignor Martin Association, a Class AA contrast in styles (Frontier at Lancaster), an annual meeting of top Catholic schools from Rochester and Buffalo (St. Francis at Aquinas),one of Class A's top rivalries (Grand Island at Sweet Home), a matchup of an expected unbeaten (Cleveland Hill) and an unexpected one (Eden) in Class C and a key Class D test (Silver Creek at Randolph).
The entire schedule is here.
Who's going to win? Why did you vote the way you did? Which game are you going to? Or is your top choice not here?
