Stronger VI- It does bring up valid arguments as to who might be the 2nd best team in Class A this year.
Hamburg and Will South never played Sweet Home. Iroquois and GI didn't meet.
Hamburg (Frontier) and Iroquois (East Aurora) had non-league wins over playoff teams.
If you look at records of the 4 teams in games not involving Sweet Home, it becomes much closer to call. Record against just the other three teams ( ).
Iroquois 5-1 Beat Hamburg and West Seneca East (twice), lost to Will South (1-1)
Will South 5-2 Beat Iroquois, Lost to Hamburg, Split with GI. (2-2)
Hamburg 6-2 Beat Will South, lost to Iroquois, split with Hamburg (2-2)
Grand Island 5-2 Split with Hamburg, Split with Will South (2-2)
I thinks its safe to assume you could put these teams on the field in varying conditions this year, and you might have a different result every time.

Milt I do agree with you on all your thoughts on off the field issues. A fan sitting next to me pointed out the fact he was out of the box I thought nothing of it but we have all seen the out of position(overweight) offical that wants to have a impact on the outcome. The ticket issue was a joke.

Milt SH by 30?,
_______________________Sweet Home played its sloppiest game of the season, but dominated play in the 2nd half. 2 gift 1st down with encroachment on punts. A messed up snap on a punt and the punter scrambles for a 1st down. Sweet Home also fumbled their 1st play from scrimmage, and gave GI great field position after an ill advised run up fumble on a punt return. I know GI fans are going to say how close a game it was, but Sweet Home made more mistakes than they have all season._____
If a IRQ punter pulled a player offsides its a heads up play, GI does it and it is a SH mistake. You must be mixing up your games, no punter scrambled for a 1st down. GI did punt well and covered well that caused SH to be pressured like they have yet to be all year, thus forcing them into errors. But being the Champs they are they played through it and won vs (Yes) the 2nd best team in A. You tried to set the table for IRQ being #2 but few are falling for it.

Another steller performance by the St. Joe's Marauders. Defence holds SF to 3 points.Big time players made big plays: Bellanca stops Frannies goal line attempt at the 2 yard line and forces a field goal, Rosenhahn intercepts a pass in the endzone on a Frannies drive near the SJ goaline and returns it 40 plus yards, Rosenhahn connects on two key passes in fourth quarter, one for the final game clinching touchdown to Greer. Didas makes key sacks and Beresford and Barnesi were tackling machines. This team is for real and are finally are getting the recognition they have EARNED.

Look, I'm not gonna make a big deal out of it, it was just an observation. I'd hate for Sweet Home to get a penalty from an unsympathetic ref outside of WNY in a key situation, especially if SH is driving and Day Day moves down to red zone. If Day Day is going to act as Captain of the team and part time Asst Coach, some ref may see him as not being able to be out of the box. I'm sure Day Day feels as part of the team competitively as he was, and his teammates consider him part of the team. Maybe its just some foresight on my part.

Tommy,
This is Milt's hobby. Have you seen the classic NFL Films clip that shows Marv Levy screaming at someone and calling them an "overofficious jerk"? Most people think he was yelling at an official, he wasn't, he was yelling at Milt.
Milt goes to a football game, a high school football, and instead of stopping at the Big Tree to have a beer to discuss the game with a friend or two he has to rush home to post his all-knowing opinion at midnight.
Only Milt would sit at a high school football game, see a teenager who had his athletic gifts ripped from him, and question whether or not he is straying beyond the official line of demarcation.
Going from being the star of a state championship team to being in a wheelchair must be beyond lousy. To have some character on the wrong side of middle age question where he takes his stinkin' wheelchair is without question the dumbest thing I have ever read on this blog (and think about the volume of stupid, Iroquois-centric things Milt alone has said).

Good luck Cardinals in your quest for another title. Also good luck to Southwestern against Eden, we are all pulling for you guys! Keith, I want to thank the Buffalo News for another year of great coverage and most of all I want to thank you for all you do in covering high school sports in Western NY.

****MILTS UOTE****************
Maybe I'm being picky...but is DeShanaro Morris on the Sweet Home roster? One would think he is, as he is a captain. My issue is that players from rosters must remain within the player's box...Day Day didn't follow that rule and was frequently found down in the red zone. A picky ref from another Section in State play just might throw a flag on Sweet Home for just such infraction.

Milt, You really need a hobby! Get a FREAKIN life!!!

Milt
Regarding the missed extra point, MG should have just taken the delay of game instead of rushing the kick. That extra 5 yards would not have mattered at all.
Regarding Sweet Home, they better not be as sloppy next week or Aquinas will hang a big number on them.

Class A bracket in the West is set. Sweet Home will play Aquinas for the third year in a row. Aquinas beat McQuaid 31-17. Whitesboro upset previously unbeaten New Hartford 60-30 in an offensive shootout in Section III. Another slight upset as well in Section IV as Corning East beat Corning West 44-38. I'm calling it right now, winner of SH-Aquinas will play in the State Finals.

Back from the Ralph...
How ironic...Secky, WNY's prolific XP guy, misses the game tying XP. The reason? He had a knot in his "kicking shoe" and was rushed to kick the point. I can't recall if MG still had a timeout left, but that might have been a good time to use it.

Other thoughts from the night...
Section VI did a poor job of communicating with parties involved. Everyone tried to use the center fenced aisle (which they've done for years) only to be turned away. It was clear no one was aware of a change in policy.
The planning involved in order to get tickets was an absolute joke. I can honesty say people stood in line for 1/2 hour to get tickets. Running each ticket through a computer system and having tickets put into envelopes was not necessary. I actually feel sorry for people who had to park in the Northwest Lot for the 2nd game, and had to walk over to the ticket window at the fieldhouse. Why not use the lot right in front of the ticket window? Poor planning, bad system...it absolutely sucked! Alot of the MG-Randolph fans missed alot of the 1st quarter. It shouldn't have to take 1/2 hour to buy a ticket to any high school event. 15 yard penalty on VI.

Warming the toes...cold and concrete don't mix.

Definitely lived up to it's billing -- a classic battle of the titans! Of course I wish it would have swung MG's way but as the Rolling Stones remind us....you can't always get what you want.....so good luck to Randolph -- take it all the way to the Dome!
