Barker field hockey is scholar-athlete state champion

Out of 241 schools that offer field hockey in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Barker is at the head of the class.

According to athletic director Dave Carson, the Lady Raiders had an academic average of 97.381 (an unweighted average at the 10-week marking period) based on the top 12 student-athlete averages on the team: Rachel Anderson, Sienna Dear, Alexandra Denny, Eliza Dewart, Alexandra Gancasz, Jessica Hillman, Aileen Hinton, Emily Klatt, Jessica Hefferon, Olivia Denny, Lindsey Soles and Megan Kieffer.

Additional members of coach Judith Otto's team that had above a 90 percent average were Savanna Gancasz, Crystal Mott, Rebecca Quackenbush, Nicole Rinaldo, Brooke Robinson, Daniela Senior, Kayla Moeller and Mackenzi Strickland.
