This just in: Nichols will play Jamesville-Dewitt of Section III (Syracuse area) next Friday, Jan. 29 at 8:30 p.m. at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.
The opening became available when Nichols played one fewer game than budgeted at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach in December.
Basketball fans throughout the state couldn't have asked for a much better matchup to fill Nichols' schedule. J-D is one of the best programs in the state, is the defending state champion in Class A and is currently atop the Class A state poll. Nichols is No. 4.
The game is part of a Coaches vs. Cancer event at OCC; there is similar event tomorrow in which J-D will meet Shenendehowa of Section II (Albany area).
After Nichols plays J-D next Friday, it heads to Albany to play Albany Academy at Siena at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in that area's Coaches vs. Cancer event.
