A-L baseball coach suspended for allegedly ordering beanball

Just when I thought the Gowanda lacrosse locker-boxing story would be WNY's contribution to crazy high school stories this week ...

Here is the Wellsville Daily Reporter's story on Allegany-Limestone baseball coach Paul Furlong being suspended for allegedly ordering a pitcher to hit a batter. The story is an interesting, detailed report -- the A-L pitcher left the mound during the game apparently after he refused to follow the order.

Obviously in the major leagues you hear from time to time about occasions in which pitchers are ordered to hit players, but I've never heard of it in high school sports. How about anyone out there?
