This weekend marks Buffalo's annual hoopfest as the Gus Macker comes to town. Buffalo's version of the three-on-three basketball tournament is the largest in the country -- something that shows how much Western New York loves its hoops.
The event is really Saturday and Sunday, but this evening it tips off with a corporate challenge portion which The News will be a part of.
Myself and fellow high school reporter Mary Jo Monnin will be joined by Web guru Geoff Nason and news reporters Jay Ray and Jay Tokasz -- we tip off at 6:20 in a huge media battle against Ch. 7. Unfortunately Jerry Sullivan is unable to play since he is on assignment at the LPGA Championships in Rochester.
It should be a blast -- hopefully this year we'll stick around a little bit. We've topped out at two games in the double-elimination tournament the last two years. Now excuse me while I go sharpen my elbows.
