Softball regular season extended, sectionals altered

I don't have to tell anyone how awful the weather has been this spring.

Here's how awful: Section VI has moved its cut-off for league games back from this Saturday to Tuesday, May 24.

"This spring has to be one of the worst springs in history," Section VI softball chairman Mark Kruzynski wrote in an e-mail to sectional chairmen and The News. "Because of this weather, we are going to be making some changes to our sectional tournament."

The seeding meeting will take place Tuesday night as well (it was also originally scheduled for Saturday).

The postseason schedule for Classes AA, C and D will remain the same, with prequarterfinals beginning on Wednesday, May 25.

The playoffs for Classes A-1, A-2, B-1 and B-2 have been altered. Prequarterfinals have been moved to Wednesday, May 25 (they were to start Tuesday); quarterfinals have been moved to Thursday, May 26 (from Wednesday) and semifinals have been moved to Saturday, May 28 (from Friday).
