Both boys and girls teams from Buffalo split their games on Saturday as part of the Basketball Coaches Association of New York Hoops Festival in Johnson City.
On the girls side, Kallie Banker (Grand Island) scored 16 points in Buffalo's 58-41 win over Mid-Hudson. Cassie Oursler (Grand Island) scored 12 and Marisa Guyton (Lockport) added 11. Banker scored 13 and Oursler 12 in Buffalo's 70-55 loss to Hudson Valley.
Buffalo will play Rochester at noon in the third place game Sunday.
Adam Weir (Canisius) netted 16 points while Reggie Agbeko (St. Joe's) scored 15 with 19 rebounds as Buffalo defeated Mid-Hudson, 93-85, in boys action. Matt Hart (Canisius) scored 13. Also in double digits were Sterling Taplin (Williamsville North) with 12 and Jamaal Carter (City Honors) with 10.
In a 97-69 loss to Hudson Valley, Buffalo lost Agbeko with a sprained ankle in the second half. Before leaving the game, he tossed in 21 points. Weir added 17.
Buffalo will play Rochester at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for fifth place.
The BCANY Festival was created to fill the void left by the cancellation of the Empire State Games.
