Any high school football player with aspirations to play at the college level, take a knee and listen up.
College coaches from around the state will be on hand to evaluate local talent at the Junior Recruiting Combine on May 5 at Ralph Wilson Stadium at 6 p.m. There is no cost for athletes. The Combine is open to all football players across Western New York who will be seniors in the fall. This 10th annual event is sponsored by the Western New York Amateur Football Alliance and Section VI Football Federation.
Local high school coaches will put athletes through position-specific drills so college coaches can judge quickness, athleticism, explosiveness and footwork. Athletes will be grouped according to their position.
Players can register through their coach. There is no charge. Sign-in at The Ralph is at 6 p.m., a warm-up is at 6:15 p.m. followed by the evaluation period at 6:30 p.m. Last year's combine drew 140 football players and 20 NCAA Division II and III coaches.
