This is it. The last day of high school sports competition in New York State.
(Except if you are a golfer, some of you will play on Sunday :-) ).
I'm headed to Binghamton to monitor four Section VI baseball teams in the state final four: Clarence (Class AA), Williamsville South (A), Fredonia (B) and Pine Valley (D). Their semifinals are scheduled for 1 p.m. with state finals at 4 (Fredonia's have been pushed back to 3 and 6, respectively).
Also in action are softball teams from Hamburg (A), Frewsburg (C) and Pine Valley (D) at Queensbury, just north of Glens Falls. Due to rainy weather Friday, the start of some of the action has been pushed back to 11 a.m.
The state track meet is scheduled to go off in its entirety today after Friday's opening day was rained out. Reporter Aaron Mansfield is on hand from there and he'll have updates on a separate blog.
If you happen to be hitting the road with your team, or monitoring their progress through a radio broadcast or someone texting from the game, be sure to tweet updates with the hashtag #preptalkscores. Those tweets will automatically appear in the live blog below.
I'll also be piping in Twitter feeds from reporters (as well as the NYSPHSAA and possible some team feeds) from throughout the state in the live blog below so you -- and I -- can keep tabs on all the action. The baseball games are in the Binghamton area, but Section VI teams will be playing at four different sites, so I'll be monitoring games that I'm not physically at to see if I can make it to multiple sites.
Check out our SCOREBOARD PAGE for today's complete schedule, which will be updated with results as soon as we have them.
