While East Aurora's practice included plenty of new faces with the addition of Holland players at today's opening practice, it also included a familiar one.
Scott Drosendahl, an all-star quarterback from the 2008 Blue Devils, has joined the team as a volunteer coach. He had signed a four-month contract to play professional football in Finland with the Tampere Saints of Europe’s Second Division, but tore his ACL in the season opener. He's scheduled to have surgery Sept. 9.
After graduating from East Aurora in 2009, he went to Mount Ida College, a Division III school in Newtown, Mass. Before graduating in 2013, he broke every major passing record throwing for 7,895 yards and 80 touchdowns as a four-year starter. Drosendahl plans on going to graduate school after the high school season.
He said one of the biggest adjustments to living in Finland was its 20 hours of daylight. "I had to go out and buy shades," he said.
