Your #PrepTalkLive updates on a busy Monday: Middle College beats East; Cheektowaga tops Amherst

By Keith McShea

As noted in today's High School Extra, there might not be a great quantity, but there is great quality in tonight's lineup of boys basketball games.

UPDATE (1:15 p.m.): Canisius canceled school today, so the big Bishop TImon-St. Jude at Canisius contest has been postponed; no makeup date has been announced.

Tonight's lineup is still very solid as No. 2 small school East and No. 5 Middle Early College meet for the first time this season in Yale Cup action at 7 p.m. at ECC-City’s Flickinger Center. The ECIC matchups among the dozen games scheduled tonight include Williamsville East (9-4) at Sweet Home at 7 p.m. in ECIC II; Cheektowaga plays No. 8 large school and ECIC III rival Amherst for the first time, 7:30 at Amherst; and in ECIC IV co-leader Holland hosts Alden at 6:30 p.m. just days after beating the Bulldogs by four.

As always, we're looking forward to your #PrepTalkLive updates on Twitter (especially because I'm off today -- I set this up ahead of time).

Our scoreboard page has a schedule of today's games -- that same page will have box scores as games are reported to us throughout the evening.

Keep track of the action and contribute to it as well in the blog below -- the easiest way to do that is to tweet updates with the #PrepTalkLive hashtag.

We will set up blogs like this throughout the winter, especially on busy nights -- we'll monitor games via not only our tweets, but those of high school sports fans and followers who use the #preptalklive hashtag.

While tonight is a busy basketball night, we want tweets from all varsity sports every day of the week. The #preptalklive blog (and hashtag) -- as it was during football season -- is the place to check out scores from all over Western New York.
