PrepTalkvletterlogoWelcome to buffalonews.com's award-winning Prep Talk blog, home to news, notes, videos and all sorts of coverage of Western New York high school sports. Scroll down for the most recent blog entries. Click on this post for an overall guide to high school sports at buffalonews.com & links to to some of our most sought-after features and archived stories.

A key links:

* Attention fall coaches (other than football) : Use scores@buffnews.com to report your scores

The basics:

LOOKING FOR A SCORE? Go to our high school scoreboard.

As soon as coaches report scores to us, they are directly inputted into our system and will appear on the high school scoreboard page within moments.

Links to the scoreboard, as well as a small box with that day's featured games, are available on the lower right side of all buffalonews.com sports pages.

Also check here on the blog on busy nights, including Fridays and Saturdays of the high school football season, when we will have a live blog devoted to updating the night's scores. Many nights we will do that in basketball as well. We will do it during the spring as well, primarily during the postseason.

Part of those live blogs is the hashtag #preptalkscores on Twitter. Any scores tweeted with that hashtag -- by us or by you -- will appear directly in live blogs, and, of course, are easily searchable on Twitter.

HOW TO PROVIDE A SCORE TO THE NEWS: For football and basketball, coaches of the winning team are asked to call The News (849-4461 or 1-800-777-8610) ASAP after contests with a final score and key details of the event.

For all other fall sports, coaches should send game information ASAP to scores@buffnews.com.

Go HERE for more details on submitting scores to The News.

LOOKING FOR ONE OF OUR STORIES? Go to our high school home page.

The home page of The Buffalo News high school sports is where you'll find regular daily coverage, including the High School Extra and game story coverage of top games and events we cover.

It is also where you will find Scholastic Spotlight stories, which are published on Tuesdays throughout the high school sports season.

Part of the Scholastic Spotlight is the Sidelines feature, which includes most importantly the weekly polls (The News football polls in the fall, The News basketball polls in the winter, baseball and softball coaches polls in the spring). The Sidelines also includes highlight games of the week as well as other bulletin board items.

Keith McShea's Prep Talk column and the Power 10 rankings feature, which usually appear on Wednesdays, can also be found at the high school home page.

For older stories (but not blogs), our online archives can be searched in the upper right side of the high school home page (or any page on buffalonews.com).

To search blog entries only, use the box on the upper right of this page (and all Prep Talk blog pages).

WANT TO SEND US A STORY IDEA? Email the information to us, tailored to any or all of the following: Keith McShea (kmcshea@buffnews.com), Mary Jo Monnin (mmonnin@buffnews.com), Executive Sports Editor Lisa Wilson (lwilson@buffnews.com) and the main sports email (sports@buffnews.com).

LOOKING FOR A VIDEO? Our video home page has the most recent videos posted to buffalonews.com. The most recent high school sports videos are linked on our high school home page. Many videos are accessible here on the blog, either by searching via the box on the top of the right side of the page, or by clicking here, which brings up all of the posts that have been tagged "PrepTalkTV."
