Live chat (May 11): Football talk starts with Timon, sizing up Section VI, small schools vs. large, ECIC vs. NFL softball, scattered baseball hits

We'll chat high school sports tonight at 9:45, and it will be nice to have some extended sunny-day action to discuss for the first time this season. There have also been some major developments in the football world of late.

As always, anything in the world of high school sports -- or our coverage of it -- is up for discussion.

I promise I'll get to your question or comment in the chat -- but please be patient. It can get busy fielding all of the questions and I can only answer one at a time. And PLEASE don't enter your question/comment multiple times -- that only makes things more hectic.

Live chat April 27: Rainy days, soggy fields, packed-in seasons on the diamonds, all-state hoops and Twitter talk

We're back from vacation today and we'll get our chat on tonight at 9. I'll have to catch up on things I missed over the past week or so, but Mother Nature has dampened the start of the spring season so much I think it'll be fairly easy to get up to speed.

Live chat April 13: All-WNY basketball in review, from first team to honorable mention

Our first chat since the publication of the All-Western New York basketball team happens tonight at 9.

I'll answer some emailed questions about the team and the selection process and I'll let you know who is on the "mythical fifth team" during what is one of the more interesting chats of the year. The final polls might be a topic as well.

As always, anything in the world of high school sports -- or our coverage of it -- is up for discussion. That certainly includes spring sports -- although Mother Nature doesn't seem to be a big fan today.

I promise I'll get to your question or comment in the chat -- but please be patient. It can get busy fielding all of the questions and I can only answer one at a time. And PLEASE don't enter your question/comment multiple times -- that only makes things more hectic.

Live chat March 30: Talking spring & hockey on WECK; typing softball, baseball and hoops, from Division I to downstate, in the chat

The snow has almost melted, there are some spring sports results trickling in. There's also the discussion about this year's All-Western New York hoop teams, although I'll likely be quite tight-lipped about it when we get tonight's chat going at 9.

I'll be taking a timeout from the chat at 9:30 p.m. to be a guest on The Late Nick Mendola program on WECK-AM (1230) so we'll go from typeing-chatting to talking-chatting and then back again.

Live chat March 9: Radio tip-off, mid-game input from Rochester, rants about Section V's hilarious classification methods & some All-WNY shots

The question isn't what to talk about, but what not to talk about.

An extremely entertaining postseason for boys and girls basketball -- including Tuesday night's double-overtime classic -- is heading to the regional round while two hockey teams are headed to the state final four.

I'll be talking with guest host Paul Peck on The Late Nick Mendola program on WECK-AM (1230) shortly after 9 p.m., then we'll get going with our chat.

As always, anything in the world of high school sports -- or our coverage of it -- is up for discussion.

Here's a link to the prechat radio talk.

POST-CHAT NOTE: There were a few R-word (that's rumor) comments regarding Canisius football coach Brandon Harris during the chat. Canisius sources have told me that he is still very much the coach of the Crusaders.

Speaking of Canisius, Rodney McKissic reported on the Campus Watch blog today that junior Corey Madlock of the Crusaders has given the University at Buffalo a verbal commitment.

Live chat March 2: Wrapping up hoops' Big Wednesday

Welcome to Big Wednesday for high school basketball.

A glance at our scoreboard page (which includes game previews) says it all: St. Joe's-Canisius for the Manhattan Cup at Canisius College, the A-1 semifinals at Buffalo State and the highly anticipated Class C final four at Jamestown Community College. Plus, the girls have their A-1 and A-2 finals at Erie Community College's Flickinger Center and the Class D final four at Jamestown High.

I will have updates from the Manhattan Cup and video reporter/producer Lauren Mariacher will be on hand as we give the game the PrepTalkTV treatment with highlights at halftime and an episode wrapping up the championship. Jay Skurski will be at Buffalo State and will have updates from the A-1 semifinals. Tyler Dunne will be at Jamestown Community College, and depending on Internet access there, he'll have a blog or he'll be providing me updates.

With the early start to the Manhattan Cup, and with so much going on tonight and tomorrow (AA semifinals) as well as this weekend (championship games), there will be plenty to discuss -- so I'm going to do a live chat around 10 or 10:15 p.m. The time of the start of the chat will depend on how the night moves along. I doubt I'll have enough time to be able to make it over to Buffalo State for the second A-1 semifinal, but who knows, I just might try it.

UPDATE: I did catch the end of Will South's win and I'll start the chat at 10:30. Check out all of the results here on the blog and the scoreboard. Plenty to talk about.

If you won't be up for the chat, feel free to fire a question or comment via the comments section on this post.
