Welcome to another season of PrepTalkTV. We're getting started tonight (here and the home page of BuffaloNews.com) and we'll continue to come at you weekly on Thursdays at 7:30.
That will put is in a great spot to talk about the upcoming weekend of high school football. Each week we'll be joined by a guest, and we're starting off with St. Joe's coach Dennis Gilbert and senior standout Nigel Davis. The Marauders had an outstanding win over Long Island power St. Anthony's to start the season, and they play at Clarence in a fine public-private matchup at 7 p.m. Saturday.
We'll also have our first guest host of the season with Springville grad and current Buffalo State freshman Dave DeLuca, who has had a hand in covering high school football the last few seasons.
We will be rotating guest hosts throughout the year, and we're still accepting applications from current high school students.
After the show, we'll conduct a live chat here on the blog. As always, anything in the world of high school sports, or our coverage of it, is up for discussion.
As always, I will try to get to every question. Please be patient.
Photojournalist Harry Scull Jr. continued our #preptalkpreseason coverage with a visit to Depew to talk to coach Brian Wilson and his players. The Wildcats discussed the 2013 season and their status heading into Scrimmage Saturday.
Meanwhile, Mark Mulville checked in with Orchard Park and fellow photojournalist John Hickey visited Burgard's practice at All High Stadium.
Keith McShea has covered high school sports at The News since his hiring in 1999. The 1995 University at Buffalo graduate and Long Island native (North Babylon Bulldogs) covers — and live blogs — everything from scrimmages to state championships & helps head The News' All-Western New York selections.
