Stevie Johnson tells NFL Network he's cleared

By Tim Graham

I didn't have a chance to catch "Total Access" on the NFL Network tonight. My television was commandeered by two kids on a "Curious George" bender.

Once bedtime mercifully came and I stopped mumbling about the Man With the Yellow Hat, I checked my Twitter feed, where Pro Football Talk informed me Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson told "Total Access" he will, in fact, take part in next week's mandatory minicamp Tuesday through Thursday.

Johnson had a speedy recovery from late April groin surgery. The belief at the time was that Johnson would be sidelined until training camp.

Johnson worked on the side at Monday's voluntary workout that was open to the media. After Wednesday's session, he ran pass routes with vigor, catching passes from Brad Smith.

My thanks to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith for transcribing what Johnson had to say:

"I'm looking forward to stepping out there with my team. I will be out there for minicamp with the Bills.

"At first, I thought I might not be able to go until mid-training camp or something, but I've been motivated to get back and watching everybody work is extra motivation to get right. It's been going well, so I'll be out there for minicamp with them and we'll get the ball rolling."

UPDATE: NFL Network has posted the video of Johnson's interview. He also shares his offseason observations on new defensive end Mario Williams and rookie cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
