PITTSFORD -- Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson played about eight snaps in Thursday night's preseason opener. He didn't get to carry the ball. One throw went his direction, but it fell incomplete.
So it was just a preseason game. No big whoop, right?
Jackson has mixed feelings. He's antsy to carry the ball, take a hit, give a hit.
He hasn't done any of that since Nov. 20. If we were talking about a pregnancy, there'd be a delivery about now.
"I was out for the last part of the season, so I wanted to get back into some live action and just get a feel for the game again," Jackson said Sunday afternoon at St. John Fisher College. "But at the same time it's a blessing in disguise. That's one opportunity not to get hurt.
"When you're out there you want to touch the ball. I would have liked to touch the ball, but am I upset about it? No."
He'll have another chance Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings in the Metrodome.
