Jim Leonhard no longer an option for the Bills

By Jay Skurski

LeonhardMugPITTSFORD -- The Buffalo Bills' search for safety depth will not end with Jim Leonhard.

The former undrafted free agent who started his career with Buffalo in 2005 spent two days this week visiting with the team at training camp and took a physical. He did not meet with coach Chan Gailey, however, and left Friday afternoon.

It's being reported today that Leonhard has signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos. Leonhard had surgery in December to repair a torn patellar tendon in his knee, the same injury Bills cornerback Terrence McGee is recovering from.

Seeing how McGee's recovery has been slow during camp, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Bills felt like Leonhard wasn't physically ready to play.
