Poll: Should the Bills bring back Lee Evans?

By Tim Graham

PITTSFORD -- Based on the responses from my Twitter followers, there are passionate opinions regarding whether the Buffalo Bills should bring back wide receiver Lee Evans.

Bills running back Fred Jackson already voted, telling me "I think he can make us better."

The Bills could use the kind of player Evans is known for, a speedster who can blow the top off a defense if it doesn't back off enough. That can help targets such as Stevie Johnson, David Nelson and tight end Scott Chandler to work underneath and prevent opponents from crowding the box to stop the run. T.J. Graham was drafted to be that downfield threat, but doesn't have Evans' experience.

The question, however, is if Evans still can be that player. The Baltimore Ravens declined to re-sign him. The Jacksonville Jaguars cut him today, with three preseason games to go.

Evans, 31, probably will get another chance somewhere. Teams that can use receiver help are out there. The Seattle Seahawks are signing anybody with a pulse, and the Miami Dolphins might suddenly be in the market for a downfield threat.
