Robert Griffin 'felt extremely good' in NFL debut

By Tim Graham

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III felt satisfied with his NFL debut.

He completed four his six passes for 70 yards and a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills here at Ralph Wilson Stadium. His touchdown was a 20-yard Pierre Garcon catch-and-run that gave the Redskins a 7-3 first-quarter lead.

"It felt extremely good to come out [and play]," Griffin said in comments the Redskins distributed at halftime. "Coach did a good job calling plays, got me in a rhythm and helped get the offense in rhythm on that third drive, and that's what it's all about."

Griffin, a dangerous scrambler who won the Heisman Trophy for Baylor last season, ran only once for zero yards (techincally, it was a bad handoff/fumble). He wanted to run for real.

"I wanted to run the keeper," Griffin said. "It would have been fun. But the one thing I know I had to do is play smart. ... They did a good job [defending] the keeper."
