PITTSFORD -- Buffalo Bills rookie cornerback Ron Brooks was part of LSU's dynamite secondary last season, a backfield that included Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu.
So Brooks was disappointed to hear the news Friday that the Honey Badger had been dismissed from the Tigers.
"He's a close personal friend of mine," Brooks said after Saturday night's training camp practice. "I'm sorry that situation happened to him. All the best of luck to him."
Brooks said he planned to reach out to Mathieu soon.
"I'm going to talk to him, just make sure my little brother is OK, check on him," Brooks said.
Mathieu, meanwhile, is considering a transfer to McNeese State, according to a report from ESPN, a move that would allow him to play this season.
