PITTSFORD -- Stevie Johnson and Chad Johnson have so much in common.
They share the same last name. They're 1,000-yard NFL receivers. They're colorful end-zone celebrators. They're prolific tweeters.
Stevie Johnson, however, isn't overly interested to wear the same uniform anymore.
Back in June, Stevie Johnson used Twitter to unsuccessfully recruit Chad Johnson (then Chad Ochocinco) to the Buffalo Bills. One beckoning note was retweeted 1,557 times and favorited 181 times.
But that was before Chad Johnson got himself arrested and cut from the Miami Dolphins over the weekend.
Stevie Johnson tapped out a couple interesting tweets after the Dolphins released Chad Johnson late Sunday night. One of Stevie Johnson's followers asked what he thought about the Bills taking a look at the six-time Pro Bowl receiver.
"Just being a receiver in this league and having respect for the guys on other teams and Chad Johnson being one of my favorite players," Stevie Johnson told me Tuesday night at St. John Fisher College, "a fan asked 'What do you think of Ochocinco?' So I said 'It seems like he's [upset] at Miami and New England. Why not? Maybe he can help.' "
Twitter being the animal that it is, Stevie Johnson quickly realized he didn't need a handful of characters taken out of context. Within moments, he tweeted "We Don't Need New Members.. To me The Click is Full..."
He later deleted the first tweet and reiterated to me his satisfaction with the Bills' receiving corps as it is.
"At the end of the day, the guys I have here, these are my brothers," Stevie Johnson said. "I've been with them since they came in. I've been in the meeting rooms with them.
"We're set here. We're good with what we have. If we was to bring him in, cool. But if not, we're good."
