The Buffalo Bills' fate in Sunday's season opener will
depend on quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Sure, that's a simplified statement. But the analysts and computers at AccuScore can give us the hard math after 10,000 computer simulations.
Overall, the New York Jets won 58.8 percent of the simulations and averaged 23 points a game at the Meadowlands.
The Bills averaged 19.6 points. Fitzpatrick completed just 51 percent of his throws for 170 yards and one touchdown with 1.4 interceptions.
But where the results shift are when Fitzpatrick threw more touchdowns than interceptions. He did so in only 28 percent of the simulations. But within those 28 percent, the Bills won 66 percent of the time.
In the Jets' sim victories, quarterback Mark Sanchez had a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 1.2 to 0.7 and they rushed for 150 yards as a team.
