The Buffalo Bills got a good report on C.J. Spiller's left shoulder injury today, according to coach Chan Gailey.
"Maybe not as bad as originally thought," the coach said. "[We're] not going to completely rule him out this week, but you know, I think it’s more of a chance that he won’t than he will [play Sunday against New England].
Gailey later offered more on Spiller's potential timetable for a return.
"I think there’s a good possibility for the second week, for whoever we play after this week," he said. "We go to San Francisco? ... He’s got a good chance to be back for that one."
Asked whether he felt fortunate that the injuries suffered to both Spiller and Fred Jackson weren't more severe, Gailey bristled.
"We’ve lost Fred and C.J., and you say we’re catching a break?" he asked. "They do look like they could have been [worse], and ... if we look at it that way, we probably are fortunate they aren’t long term."
