Both Stephon Gilmore and George Wilson passed concussion tests today and said they are fine after the Bills’ 35-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Clean bill of health. I just had my eggs scrambled for a play there,” Wilson said. “The training staff just wanted to err on the side of caution. They brought me in to make sure that everything was ok. [They] did the concussion screenings and everything. Clean bill of health before the team even came in for halftime.
Wilson was hurt late in the second quarter on a play over the middle. He could be seen on the sidelines pleading to go back into the game, but eventually headed to the locker room.
“I know that sometimes we as players want to get back out there and that’s why we have team doctors and trainers, in those moments, to protect us from ourselves,” he said. “I’m feeling great. They quizzed me on where was I lined up at? What was the play call? What was the pass they threw? Who was it? They took me through the whole gamut and I passed everything.”
Gilmore went down with less than 90 seconds to play. He was hurt making a tackle on Chiefs receiver Jonathan Baldwin.
“It just got me a little bit,” he said. “It wasn’t anything serious. It just shocked me a little bit but I’m good.”
Several Bills suffered bumps and bruises during the game, but none appeared to be serious. Left tackle Cordy Glenn had his right ankle taped but said he was fine. Coach Chan Gailey said Glenn could have finished the game, but came out in the fourth quarter because of the score.
Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus appeared to have his left shoulder looked at by trainers on the sideline, was able to finish the game.
“I think he’s fine. He played some in the second half with it. It’s going to be sore, but I think he’s going to be OK.”
Safety Jairus Byrd and receiver Ruvell Martin were seen getting X-rays after the game, but there was no immediate word on their condition. Gailey will provide a full injury update Monday afternoon.
