The Dallas Cowboys confirmed this evening that they have reached a deal with former Buffalo Bills punter Brian Moorman.
Dallas is in need at the position because its punter, Chris Jones, was injured in Sunday's victory at Tampa. A Buccaneers defender ran into Jones and incurred a roughing the kicker penalty after falling into the punter's knee.
Jones had a tenuous hold on the job even before his injury. He saw one of his punts blocked against Seattle two weeks ago and almost had a punt blocked at Tampa. Jones was not at practice Wednesday.
Jones, an undrafted rookie last year, punted in two games for Dallas in 2011. Dallas' previous punter, Mat McBriar, signed with Philadelphia in the offseason, and Jones won the job in training camp.
