Gamesmanship or actually need?
Either of those could be behind the news from the New York Post's Brian Costello that the New York Jets have worked out punter Shawn Powell and wide receiver Derek Hagan this week, both of whom were released by the Buffalo Bills last Friday.
It certainly doesn't appear that Powell will be signed. After the Jets released punter T.J. Conley on Tuesday, they signed Robert Malone, a final cut of the San Diego Chargers last week.
As for Hagan, the Jets have six receivers on their active roster, so there wouldn't appear to be any room for him unless they wanted to make a switch.
