Tyler Thigpen is next in line should anything happen to quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday, when the Buffalo Bills open the season against the New York Jets.
Bills coach Chan Gailey confirmed Thigpen will serve as the No. 2 quarterback this week ahead of newly acquired Tarvaris Jackson.
Thigpen confirmed this week that he accepted a $1 million paycut to stay with the Bills, and now he's one play away from being counted on in a game that's as important as a season opener can get.
The decision isn't a shock. Thigpen has a good grasp on the offense, much more so than Jackson could be expected to in two weeks with the team.
