The NFL has fined New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes $21,000 for an illegal blindside hit on Buffalo Bills tight end Scott Chandler.
Spikes launched himself at Chandler, striking him in the head on a fourth-quarter interception return Sunday in Ralph Wilson Stadium. No penalty was called on the play, but the hit knocked Chandler out of the game.
Chandler was medically cleared for contact by Monday and didn't miss any practice this week.
Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams was fined $15,750 for his roughing-the-passer penalty on Tom Brady. The sanction was for striking a quarterback below the knee.
Williams revealed Monday that he had been fined $15,000. He disagreed with the call and has said he will appeal the fine.
