Aaron Maybin released again; Reggie Bush takes high road

By Tim Graham

Aaron Maybin has been dumped.

The New York Jets released the former Buffalo Bills first-round draft pick this afternoon. Minutes after word broke, Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush, as luck would have it, phoned the Bills media center for a scheduled conference call to preview Thursday night's game here.

Maybin, you may recall, caused a stir by declaring the Jets wanted to knock Bush out of their game last month.

So I asked Bush what he thought of Maybin getting dumped.

"Nothing at all," Bush said. "I have nothing to say about him, nothing negative to say about him. You never want to hear a guy getting cut because this is our livelihood, and this is how we make our money.

"So you never wish that upon anybody. But I have nothing negative to say about the guy, and hopefully he gets another shot to get back in this league."

I mentioned to Bush you're never supposed to wish injury upon a player either.

"You're not supposed to," Bush said with a laugh. "But I guess that's what they kind of did."
