The Buffalo Bills have one extra practice this week for what will be their biggest game of the season Sunday in Indianapolis.
The Bills return to the practice field today after enjoying a weekend off, a nice break within the season after last Thursday's 19-14 win over the Miami Dolphins. The Bills got through that game healthy, and will have 10 days to prepare for the Colts.
"Going into the [Miami] game, for them and for us, guys are beat up. That's just part of playing an NFL season. To win a Thursday night game, to now be able to rest Friday, Saturday and Sunday, get an extra day of practice, it's an advantage for a team that plays on Thursday night for their next game," Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said. "So hopefully we can take advantage of it."
"I think they should be really rested and refreshed coming back in here [today] and getting ready for the next ball game," coach Chan Gailey said. "It will be a tough ball game. We have to go down to Indianapolis and play. But I think they'll be ready. I think their mind will be better and their bodies will be better."
Somewhat surprisingly, that added preparation time has not proven to be advantageous for other teams so far this season. The record of teams that played on Wednesday or Thursday night this season in the following week is just 7-13 heading into Week 12.
