What it means: The Bills desperately needed a victory, and they got one. The Bills snapped their three-game losing streak and an eight-game losing streak against the AFC East, dating back to last season. The Bills are 4-6. They have the same record as the Dolphins, but inched ahead of them with the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Finally ready for primetime: The Bills went into tonight on an 11-game primetime losing skid. They hadn't won since beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 13-10, in 2001.
Star of the game: With concussed running back Fred Jackson out of the lineup, C.J. Spiller was the offensive catalyst even though he didn't get in the end zone. He ran 22 times for 91 yards and caught three passes for 39 yards.
Star of the game II: Bills defensive end Kyle Moore had a terrific game. He recorded a sack and generated the pressure that chased Ryan Tannehill into Shawne Merriman's arms in the fourth quarter.
Play of the night (for starters): The first time the Bills touched the ball, Leodis McKelvin returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown up the left sideline. The Bills never gave up the lead.
Plays of the night (for finishers): Bills safety Jairus Byrd laid out to intercept a pass with 1:54 left in the game. Byrd made a spectacular effort on a pass intended for Davone Bess deep down the left sideline. ... Bills linebacker Bryan Scott intercepted Tannehill with 41 seconds left to seal the victory.
Preliminary injury report: No injuries were announced in the press box.
Coming up: The Bills have three extra days to prepare for Andrew Luck and the surprising Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium on Nov. 25.
