Buffalo Bills rookie punter Shawn Powell has been scrutinized -- and rightfully so -- since the club released fan favorite Brian Moorman after Week Three.
Powell has had his shanky moments, but he was a major contributor to Thursday night's 19-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Ralph Wilson Stadium.
In a game with multiple special-teams stars, Powell was terrific. He averaged 45.3 yards on seven punts, and his placement mostly was impeccable.
Five of them landed inside the 20-yard line, tying a Bills record.
Here's the rundown of Powell's seven punts.
- * 56-yarder to Miami's 11-yard line (Marcus Thigpen 22-yard return).
- * 52-yarder to Miami's 7-yard line (Davone Bess 0-yard return).
- * 24-yard pooch to Miami's 12-yard line (Bess fair catch).
- * 42-yarder to Miami's 36-yard line (out of bounds).
- * 50-yarder to Miami's 10-yard line (Thigpen 9-yard return).
- * 52-yarder to Miami's 1-yard line (out of bounds).
- * 41-yarder to Miami's 16-yard line (downed by Chris White).
