Bills center Eric Wood stands by his harsh Toronto comments

By Tim Graham

On his underappreciated Sully on Sports blog, Buffalo News columnist Jerry Sullivan wrote about Buffalo Bills center Eric Wood's incendiary comments regarding the Toronto series.

Wood fielded questions at his locker stall today and didn't retreat from blunt statements made on 97 Rock's "Norton in the Morning" the day after the Seattle Seahawks bludgeoned the Bills in the Rogers Centre.

Wood said on the show he thought the Toronto series was "a joke," that "nobody wants to play there" and that he hoped "we don't renew it."

"I wrote and deleted about three tweets during the game, kind of using that 10-second rule," Wood said today. "It was probably for the best. It kind of ticked me off. The way I look at it was, last week we were still in the [playoff] hunt, and we've got a team traveling from the West Coast and we make them real comfortable. They get on a plane to play in Toronto, in a dome, without much crowd noise."

Sully has been of the opinion that playing in Toronto not only forfeits home-field advantage, but also is worse than a road game because there isn't any negative energy to feed off of. Wood agreed.

"You provide comfort that shouldn't happen when you travel to Buffalo," Wood said. "You should have a cold, uncomfortable feeling when people come in. That's our advantage. We go up in that dome and we let them feel really comfortable."

Check out Sully's blog entry for more quotes about the Toronto series and Wood's prospects for returning this week from a left knee injury.
