Bills, Jets offenses hobbling

By Mark Gaughan

Sunday's regular-season finale between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets is not shaping up as an offensive show.

The knee injury suffered by tight end Scott Chandler puts a big crimp in the Bills' offense, which already was down running back Fred Jackson and receiver Donald Jones the past month.

The Bills have Lee Smith and Dorin Dickerson at tight end. Dickerson suffered an ankle injury in Miami and was carted off the field but should be able to play this week. Wide receiver Marcus Easley has been out with a hamstring injury.

"We're going to be struggling to do some of the things that we need to do," Bills coach Chan Gailey said. "To get into some of your two tight [end] stuff, you might have to put an extra lineman in there to get some of that done.

"There's some things with Marcus not being 100 percent. Just for your information, Ruvell Martin will not be at practice for the next couple days for personal excuse. He is excused. We've got some work to do to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible and we’re able to do the things we need to do."

The Bills' offense ranks 20th in points. The Jets' offense, which will have Greg McElroy making his second NFL start, ranks 28th in scoring.
