Bills RB Fred Jackson heads to IR for second year in a row

By Tim Graham

Fred Jackson's season is over.

For the second straight year, the Buffalo Bills running back didn't make it to the end of the season because of an injury. But there's relief that the injury isn't serious.

Jackson's agent, Ron Raccuia, tweeted the injury was a Grade 2 right knee sprain. Bills coach Chan Gailey said the prognosis is that Jackson would need around four weeks to heal. With only three games left in the season, Jackson eventually will be placed on injured reserve.

"He's not going to make it," Gailey said. "He's going to be out for the rest of the year."

Jackson was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 15-12 loss to the St. Louis Rams in Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Jackson's 2012 stat line will read 115 carries for 437 yards and three touchdowns plus 34 receptions for 217 yards and a touchdown.

Gailey noted the Bills were undecided on how to fill Jackson's roster spot and suggested fullback Corey McIntyre could be the third back behind C.J. Spiller and Tashard Choice.

Gailey added defensive end Mark Anderson (knee) and cornerback Aaron Williams (knee) might be back Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
