NEW ORLEANS -- New Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Pat Morris has a fan in Baltimore Ravens center Matt Birk.
Morris coached Birk with the Minnesota Vikings for three years, including two of Birk's six Pro Bowl seasons.
"Pat was great," Birk told me at Super Bowl XLVII media day. "Pat has been around a long time, one of those lifer offensive-line coaches. He knows offensive-line play inside and out."
Birk explained astutue game-planning has been one of Morris' skills.
"I thought one of the great things Pat did as a coach was be able to predict how teams were going to play us, certain looks and certain formations," Birk said. "That was one thing I was always impressed with, his understanding of not just us but other defenses and how they were going to attack us."
Morris also has worked with the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers over his 16 NFL seasons.
Birk added the combination of Morris and Bills coach Doug Marrone, a former offensive-line player and assistant, should be a team strength.
"I'm sure their O-line will be pretty good with those two guys," Birk said.
