St. Francis product Brian Daboll back in NFL with New England

By Jay Skurski

The good times keep rolling for St. Francis High School products.

The latest piece of good news for former Red Raiders comes out of New England, where the Patriots announced today they are in the process of bringing Brian Daboll back to the coaching staff.

"I don't really have any further comment on it, but I'll just put it out there now that we're in the process of bringing Brian Daboll back onto our staff," Patriots coach Bill Belichick told reporters, in the most Bill Belichick way possible. "As soon as we get that worked out, he'll be part of our coaching staff going forward; similar to what Josh [McDaniels] did last year, but without any specific responsibility at this time."

Daboll broke into the NFL with the Patriots in 2000, serving as a defensive assistant for two seasons before becoming wide receivers coach in 2002, a role he stayed in until 2006. Later in his career, Daboll served as offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns (2009-10), Miami Dolphins (2011) and Kansas City Chiefs (2012).

Daboll's hiring comes a week after two St. Francis graduates, David Caldwell and Tom Telesco, accepted NFL general manager jobs a day apart with Jacksonville and San Diego, respectively.

Daboll spoke to The News' Tim Graham about the sudden St. Francis pipeline to the NFL.
