Not that Buffalo Bills fans were worried to begin with, but there shouldn't be any regret about Ryan Fitzpatrick leaving town.
Of all the former Bills who have come back to haunt them, quarterbacks haven't been a concern.
That could be viewed two ways. Either the Bills have been adept at moving on from an ineffective player, or they haven't been able how to identify a quarterback to begin with.
Here is a rundown of Bills starting quarterbacks since Jim Kelly retired and how they fared as starters (26-28) elsewhere after they left:
1997
- • Todd Collins: 4-0 in 10 years with Kansas City, Washington and Chicago.
- • Alex Van Pelt: Didn't play anywhere else.
1998
- • Doug Flutie: 8-14 in five years with San Diego and New England.
- • Rob Johnson 2-0 in two seasons with Tampa Bay, Washington and Oakland.
2002
- • Drew Bledsoe: 12-10 in two seasons with Dallas.
2005
- • J.P. Losman: No starts in three seasons with Oakland, Seattle and Miami.
- • Kelly Holcomb: 0-3 in one season with Minnesota.
2007
- • Trent Edwards: 0-1 in three seasons with Jacksonville and Philadelphia.
2009
- • Ryan Fitzpatrick: Signed Monday with Tennessee.
- • Brian Brohm: Didn't play anywhere else.
