Road to the Draft: Quinton Patton

By Mark Gaughan

Quinton Patton

Position: Wide receiver
School: Louisiana Tech
Measurements: 6-foot, 204 pounds
40 time: 4.53 seconds. 20-yard shuttle: 4.01`seconds. Broad jump: 9 feet, 10 inches. Vertical jump: 33 inches.
2012 stats: 104 catches, 1,392 yards, 13 TDs.
Draft projection: Second round.

Lowdown: Patton put up huge numbers the past two years. He has good size. While he doesn’t have elite deep speed, he has good quickness and acceleration, as evidenced by his time in the 20-yard shuttle, which tied for second best among all receivers in the draft. He attended Coffeyville Community College in Kansas for three years (one as a redshirt) before going to Louisiana Tech. His biggest game was against Texas A&M last season, when he caught 21 passes for 233 yards and four TDs. Texas A&M won, 59-57. Patton helpled himself with a strong showing for the South team at the Senior Bowl. He has good intangibles, as well. If the Buffalo Bills are looking for a receiver in the second round, Patton could be an option. Patton's on-campus workout is scheduled for today.

He said it: “At Louisiana Tech I mostly played outside on the right. But the offense was so potent I didn’t have to change positions. … In junior college I always played the slot receiver, to the left and to the right.”
