Bills draft Duke Williams, another defender with suspensions

By Tim Graham

The Buffalo Bills drafted another defensive problem child this afternoon.

A day after taking linebacker Kiko Alonso, suspended twice at Oregon for alcohol-related arrests, the Bills selected Nevada safety Duke Williams in the fourth round.

Williams has multiple arrests on his record and was suspended three times within his first 12 months at Nevada.

The Reno Gazette-Journal detailed suspensions for underage alcohol possession, his involvement in a theft and for fighting teammate Marlon Johnson, who ended up in the hospital. He was arrested again in 2011 after a minor auto accident and was found to have an outstanding warrant from a previous traffic issue.

"I went through some ups and downs during my college career," Williams said on a conference call with Bills reporters. "I had a few minor incidents that occurred. ... It's just something you learn from as a person, growing up.

"One thing about life is you learn from your mistakes. I became a better person from those mistakes I made. So it's great that the outcome is I'm able to make it and get drafted and help an organization win a championship."
