Channeling Buddy: Collegiate vets from the South will rise again

By Mark Gaughan

The Buffalo Bills will be picking at least three players from the South who have plenty of experience on the field, if the track record of general manager Buddy Nix plays out again in the 2013 NFL Draft.

In Nix's three years of running the Bills' draft, 22 of Buffalo's 27 picks have been from the South, including the state of Texas.

Furthermore, only one of Nix's 27 picks could be classified as a "one-year wonder." That was receiver Marcus Easley, a fourth-round pick in 2010. Easley played in 35 college games, but he started only 11 and had only four catches in his junior season.

Every other Bills pick was at least a significant two-year contributor, and 14 of the 27 were three- or four-year, full-time starters.
