C.J. Spiller's uncommon skills delight Kevin Kolb

By Tim Graham

Kevin Kolb didn't have much backfield help with the Arizona Cardinals the past two years. Beanie Wells and LaRod Stephen-Howling were his running backs.

Meh.

I asked Kolb what he thinks when he views C.J. Spiller on film.

"Explosive," Kolb replied with a smile after Wednesday's voluntary workout at One Bills Drive. "Yeah, super-explosive. He's truly a bounce in every step, and there's very few of those around."

Spiller, coming off a breakout season, and veteran Fred Jackson will ease the burden for whoever wins Buffalo's quarterback job.

"Especially in this system, where we'll be using our backs, we'll be asking them to do different things," Kolb said. "Shoot, the best thing about them is they're not afraid to stick their nose up in there and block for you as well. They're good, all-around backs."

A lack of winning aside, Kolb has played with some supremely talented teammates with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cardinals. I asked Kolb if Spiller compared to anyone.

"The first thing that came to mind, but they're still different players, is Brian Westbrook," Kolb said, "because I played with him in Philly, and he was obviously a special player, Pro Bowler that last year I had him over there.

"C.J.'s plenty explosive, and he's got all those capabilities as well."
