Karlos Dansby, Bills unable to agree on contract -- for now

By Tim Graham

Three years ago, the Miami Dolphins made Karlos Dansby the highest-paid inside linebacker in NFL history.

Now unemployed, he's still searching for a place to play in 2013.

Dansby quietly left One Bills Drive without a contract after meeting with the Bills this week. There's apparently still a chance Dansby and the Bills could get something done.

"He had a good visit," Bills General Manager Buddy Nix said on the team's website. "We liked him. It's still ongoing. It's not dead, but it's not done either."

Dansby last year recorded a career-high 134 tackles (Dolphins internal stats taken from coaching film) but didn't deliver many game-changing plays. He notched one sack, two quarterback hits and nine tackles for losses. He had no interceptions, one forced fumble and no recoveries.

The Dolphins released Dansby after they signed Baltimore Ravens free-agent linebacker Dannell Ellerbe.

Dansby is entering his 10th NFL season and is one of only four active players with at least 31.5 sacks and 11 interceptions.
