Niagara-Wheatfield High product Byron Mulkey is among 11 players who are practicing with the Buffalo Bills this week on a tryout basis.
Mulkey, 5-foot-11 and 186 pounds, played basketball for the University at Buffalo. He walked onto the Bulls' football team and was a starter for 2 1/2 seasons, ending his career in 2011. He also had a tryout with the Bills last spring.
He was a Buffalo News All-Western New York high school pick as a defensive back in 2005.
Two former Syracuse players are among the tryouts, tight end Nick Provo and cornerback Mike Holmes.
The others on the tryout list: defensive ends Jamie Blatnick (Oklahoma State) and Marcus Robinson (Miami), linebacker Kourtnei Brown (Clemson), defensive tackle Nicolas Jean-Baptiste (Baylor), kicker Chris Koepplin (Massachusetts), punter Brian Stahovich (San Diego State), running back Frank Summers (UNLV) and long-snapper James Winchester (Oklahoma).
