GQ rates Buffalo Bills among 20 worst sports franchises ever

By Tim Graham

Poking fun at the Buffalo Bills was fashionable long before Russ Brandon dressed sharply in those Napoli's men's store commercials.

Bills fans are used to their team -- and their city -- being made fun of.

But GQ?

The men's magazine has included the Bills on its list of the 20 worst franchises in sports history.

The Bills came in at No. 17, which might not sound so bad until you realize writer Rob Tannenbaum included teams from the defunct USFL, WFL and WHA on the list. An NBA club that no longer exists also made the cut.

Here's the miserable rundown:

  • 1. Every Cleveland team
  • 2. Detroit Lions
  • 3. Chicago Cubs
  • 4. Los Angeles Clippers
  • 5. Charlotte Bobcats
  • 6. New York Jets
  • 7. Kansas City Royals
  • 8. Providence Steamrollers
  • 9. Indianapolis Racers
  • 10. Detroit Wheels
  • 11. Phoenix Coyotes
  • 12. New York Mets
  • 13. Washington Federals
  • 14. Philadelphia Phillies
  • 15. Toronto Raptors
  • 16. Toronto Maple Leafs
  • 17. Buffalo Bills
  • 18. Pittsburgh Pirates
  • 19. Arizona Cardinals
  • 20. St. Louis Blues
