Jets LB Antwan Barnes laughs at Mario Williams' 4.5 sacks

Mario and Antwan

By Tim Graham

New York Jets linebacker Antwan Barnes scoffed at the notion Buffalo Bills pass-rusher Mario Williams could have a repeat performance Sunday at the Meadowland.

"No, not at all," Barnes told Newsday reporter Kimberly A. Martin. "Not on my O-line."

Interesting. Jets quarterback Geno Smith has been sacked nine times, tied for third-most in the NFL.

Williams was named AFC defensive player of the week for the team-record 4.5 sacks he recorded Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Big game, right, Antwan?

"It's the Panthers we're talking about," Barnes said. "Obviously, he's a first-round pick. They pay him so much money, so he's got to go out there and do something.

"For our O-linemen, it's the same. They go against us every day. They won't be scared or intimidated by it."

That certainly was the case last year.

The Jets handled Williams. Manhandled, in fact, to the point Williams complained right tackle Austin Howard was too rough on him and that the replacement officials refused to throw flags.

Williams had one tackle and no sacks the first game against the Jets, three tackles and no sacks in the rematch.
