Report: QB Thad Lewis added to practice squad

By Jay Skurski

The Buffalo Bills still have just two quarterbacks on their active roster in rookies EJ Manuel and Jeff Tuel, but are adding some insurance to the position today.

According to reports from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com and Pro Football Talk, among others, the Bills will bring quarterback Thad Lewis, who was released Saturday, back to the practice squad.

In the event Manuel is not healthy enough to play next week in the season opener against New England, Lewis could be elevated to the 53-man roster to serve as Tuel's backup.

The Bills practice at 4 p.m. The Press Coverage blog will have more on the quarterback situation this afternoon.
